High Impact Mat and High Density Polyurethane Foam
The High Density Polyurethane Foam (HDPFTM) joint fill material is a cellular plastic rigid polyurethane foam. The material system consists of two liquid components, which when blended react within seconds, changing state to solid form and completely filling the joint annulus.
The material is designed for injection into a formed annulus with expendable Sea Sleeve®. The HDPF utilizes a water blowing agent rather than chloro-fluorocarbons, so that no hazard is introduced to the Earth's ozone layer. The material is also open celled which facilitates water absorption thus bringing the saturated density to that of sea water.
This HDPF system for offshore joint infill is formulated to give high compressive strength, superior impact resistance, and quick reaction and solidification time. This material has been used for offshore pipeline construction since the early 1980's and has a project record of over 10,000 km of offshore pipelines.
