OJS Sea Sleeve System
Sea sleeve, Intrafuse and HDPF providing Mechanical Protection on CWC Pipelines
These three products are combined to provide mechanical protection to the anti-corrosion layer on field joints within concrete weight coated (CWC) pipelines. OJS' patented Sea Sleeve® is wrapped around the pipe at the field joint area and overlaps the CWC. The Sea sleeve length is longer than the circumference of the CWC and has a longitudinal overlap which is sealed by electric fusion welding (Intrafuse). The High Density Polyurethane Foam (HDPF) is injected into the annulus (Infill) with the polyethylene sleeve serving as the mold. After the HDPF has cured, the Sea Sleeve® is left in place as an expendable mould.
Why use OJS Sea Sleeve System?
The benefits these products provide for our Clients are;
This system provides the safest and fastest operation available. It provides a simple application system which ensures high reliability, quality and cycle times. Alternative systems use sheet metal molds which has a history of causing personnel skin and eye injuries.
Our system has an infinite life span, and is more cost effective.
This system holds the world record for offshore pipelay production rates at 9.8Km per day -
see Offshore Video.
It avoids snagging of fishing nets and equipment. The alternative sheet metal molds can create damage to fishing equipment when the banding corrodes and the mold opens.
The HDPF infill provides immediate mechanical support as it passes over the stinger rollers and through the 'S' curve to sea bottom touch down. This system will continue to provide impact protection for the pipeline long after its service life and can vary in thickness and density for increased impact or abrasion resistance.
