The OJS Research and Development lab tailors specific coating systems to meet the requirements of an ever changing industry. New product development encompasses product formulation, physical property testing, and new application procedures. This in-house commitment to innovation allows OJS to lead the industry with new product applications and customized solutions for the offshore pipeline industry.
Recent Protective Coating Services or Products developed by OJS which are available now are:

OJS High Speed Blast Equipment
OJS Pre-heat Equipment
OJS FBE/CMPP Powder Application Equipment

OJS designed and launched the above equipment in 2003. It produced the world record for offshore pipelay of FBE coated pipeline with Allseas Engineering BV  OJS then enjoyed repeat business from Allseas for this service for 5 continuous years.

OJS Densiflex 6100 Solid Polyurethane (SPU)

In co-operation with an OJS vendor, we developed the chemical formulation for a Solid polyurethane (SPU) for use as a thermal insulation on pipeline field joints, risers, spools where wet thermal insulation is required. The material is superior in properties to other SPU available in 2009. This SPU has the advantages it is mercury free and fast curing.

Customized Solutions

Our in-house R&D team possess decades of experience in materials science and processes, thermal insulation, impact protection, optimum application procedures.  Our team of experts is often applied to solving particular customer needs, typically;

Materials testing to identify the most suitable material for a particular customer specification - such as K value, high temperature anti-corrosion, bond strength.
Reformulating materials to meet unique project needs - such as impact resistance or faster cure time.
Adapting equipment to meet unique job requirements - such as improved safety through automation, site space limitations, unique field joint dimensions (J lay collars).
Developing improve application techniques and procedures - such as improved interfacial bond strength
