Safety, Health and Environment
Safety really is a way of life. We care for others and ourselves. We require our employees to work safely on all jobs and encourage them to use the same philosophy of safety off the job.
OJS is committed to providing a workplace that is safe and healthy for everyone and the environment. OJS fully understands working alongside both main Contractors and owners to provide a complete project service. We have adopted the following philosophies:
- All accidents and environmental incidents can be prevented.
- All operations must be performed safely and with minimal environmental impact.
- All personnel have the right and responsibility to stop any work they feel may be unsafe.
- Working together, as a team, improves health, safety and environmental standards for everyone.
- Always strive for a safer and more environmentally friendly use of chemicals.
OJS's Health, Safety and Environmental commitment is more than good business; it is a core value that will not be compromised. Preventative measures include mandatory training with certification, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for every discipline, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Manufacturer's Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are all available to help our employees achieve a safer workplace.
OJS realizes that part of this responsibility includes making a commitment to protect human health, the environment and property both within our organization and at our customer project sites.
Quality Management System-ISO 9001:2008
OJS has established the following quality policy:
"Provide customer satisfaction with the highest quality products and services through continual improvement of our ISO 9001:2008 program"
OJS consider their customer satisfaction measurement to be extremely stringent and productive. To obtain this measurement our focus on quality control is divided into three main areas:
Contract Review
The contract review process is the foundation for planning and execution of all project requirements, therefore due diligence in review of customer HSEQ requirements, specifications, drawings etc is paramount.
Provision of Services
This quality control process is the most intricate of the three covering OJS activities from the logistics of mobilizing consumables, equipment and personnel to a project to the demobilization after the pipe is laid. It encompasses procedures, Inspection and Test Plans, production monitoring, material traceability from manufacturer to field joint, equipment performance, personnel performance and overall customer satisfaction.
Provision of Products
On award of contract, all purchases are recorded and the items inspected on delivery before logistics ships the goods to the project mobilization destination. Vendors are continuously monitored to ensure the quality of their products and a non-conformance is issued should the quantity or quality be different to the PO and specifications. Conformance batch certificates for all products are controlled and issued to the customer by purchasing.
Some of the key HSEQ benefits our products provide are;
- Sea Sleeve which replaces sheet metal molds and banding used for HDPF infill at the field joints on concrete weight coated pipelines. This eliminates the risks of cuts and eye injuries common with the sheet metal molds. As Sea sleeve is a polyethylene based product it will not snag with fishing nets wee sheet metal molds has proven to be problematic. Similarly with ROV umbilicals and divers in shallow waters.
- Fully enclosed blast recovery systems provide a very clean and safe environment for OJS and our Clients personnel on site compared to the open blasting systems.
- FBE powder recovery system removes over 90% of the powder in the atmosphere surrounding the equipment during the FBE powder application. See OJS video on the home page of this application offshore.
- Mercury free Densiflex 6100 Solid polyurethane complies with recent USA legislation regarding mercury content for facilities being installed offshore.
